Green tree leaves
smitten with wind
turn upside down
as if asking their belly to be tickled
Off in the distance
a wood thrush whistles
his song of few notes
a concert to any who will listen
Along a distant ridge
porcupines ponder
their destiny in doubt
shafts of sunlight are swindled against bedrock
Atop the nearby mountain
turkey vultures soar
carrion the prey
perhaps one of nature’s finest moments
Under emerald canopy
a vixen tends the kits
who frolic without care
beneath smitten green leaves above
